Bloomsday Festival : June 10

Literature buffs rejoice!  Bloomsday, named in reference to the title character of the novel Ulysses, celebrates the life and works of Irish author James Joyce. Although best known for Ulysses, Joyce also penned many successful short stories and poems in his lifetime. Last year’s Bloomsday Festival included food, music, and readings from the Joyce archives. Admission is free, so stop by The Book Tree shop on June 10 to take part in this unique festival that blends literary knowledge with Irish flair.

Kirkland Uncorked : July 14-16

Kirkland Uncorked is a large festival that turns Marina Park into one big party. Washington state wines are gaining in popularity and winemag.com has great things to say about the area’s varietals.  Featuring over 70 wines, this tasting experience gives you a chance to try some of the Pacific Northwest’s best. Not only for wine enthusiasts, the festival also includes a dog modeling competition, a food truck lineup, a boat show, and more. The ticket for general admission will cost you $30, and proceeds go toward supporting the Homeward Pet Adoption Center. Ten wine tastes, a signature cocktail, and a commemorative glass are included with your ticket. That’s value we can all cheers to!

Kirkland Summerfest : August 11-13

Kirkland Summerfest brings together music, arts, and family. This large festival truly has something for everyone. The Kid Zone has fitness, arts, and rides that will surely put a smile on your little one’s face. A wine and beer garden will have the adults smiling too. Gather all ages together for some musical performances at the main stage and to dance up a hunger before you hit the food court. Make sure you brought your sunscreen, because this jam-packed summer festival has a full day’s worth of fun in the summer sun.

Kirkland Police Department Car Show: September 9

If flashy cars rev your engine, you won’t want to miss the Kirkland Police Department Car Show. Located at the Kirkland Justice Center, this event benefits enrichment programs for the 14-20-year-old police department volunteer group, the Police Explorers Post. Entry is free, so be sure to buy a drink or a raffle ticket to support the cause. A summer day full of cars, food, and community, is a perfect way to support the local police force in their efforts to mentor the next generation.
