5 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Seattle

1. Kells Irish Festival

We all know it wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without a pub. As one of the city’s most popular events, Kells Irish Restaurant turns this holiday into a marathon celebration that lasts well over a week. Featuring food, drinks, dancing, and live Irish music, this festive event will have everyone wishing St. Patrick’s Day occurred more than just once a year.

2. St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This parade in Downtown Seattle starts off with Grand Marshals and other dignitaries raising the Irish Tricolor flag while playing both the Irish and the United States national anthems. Following, spectators will find clowns, bagpipe players, leprechauns, live music, and more strolling down the city’s streets. Audience participation is encouraged at this family-friendly, fun event. We hope to see you there in your green and shamrocks!

3. Kirkland Shamrock Run

This 5K fun run celebrates both healthy living and St. Patrick’s Day. The Kirkland Shamrock Run is open to runners of all ages, sizes, and fit levels. So put on your green running outfits, lace up those shoes, and get ready to race to the pot of gold waiting for you at the finish line. Word on the street is that pint-sized runners receive a T-shirt and a medal upon finishing.

4. Leprechaun Hunt

It’s the time of year when those sneaky little leprechauns return to Seattle. Join us at the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, in Shoreline, Washington, for the ultimate leprechaun hunt. This free self-guided tour will not only wind you through the beautiful gardens but you’ll also get to look for signs of those little green troublemakers. Open to families of all ages, this exploration will definitely put everyone in the Irish spirit.

5. St. Patrick’s Day Dash

Another fun run, the St. Patrick’s Day Dash is one of the city’s liveliest events. With more than 15,000 participating runners and walkers, it’s in this sea of people where you’ll find a variety of Irish-themed costumes. From leprechauns to pots of gold and everything in between, this race prides itself on giving out awards for standouts such as “Best Decorated Stroller” and “Best Young Leprechaun.” For the little ones, there’s a Leprechaun Lair event at the Seattle Children’s Museum, and for the adults a Post-Dash Bash on Fisher Green.

From special museum events to restaurant blowouts to a variety of Irish festivals, the activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Seattle and the surrounding area seem endless. Tell us, how will you be celebrating the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day?
