A look at the 2017 Jeep Renegade

The Jeep Renegade was first introduced in 2015 to offer consumers a compact option in the Jeep line up. While catching a rap from critics for being “cute”, the Renegade still lives up to the legendary 4×4 performance Jeeps are known for. The Jeep Renegade is surprisingly capable for such a compact Jeep and it performs magnificently in off-road situation. Featuring 6 trim levels, the Sport, Latitude, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, and Deserthawk, the Jeep Renegade can be equipped to be a great daily city driver, or a powerful off road trekking vehicle.

Most Capable Compact SUV

The Sport, Latitude, and Altitude come standard with a 1.4-liter I4 MultiAir Turbo Engine that delivers 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. An optional 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir Engine is available on these trim levels that produces 180 horsepower with 175 lb-ft of torque. The 1.4-liter turbo charged engine has an estimated fuel efficiency of 24city/31highway, while the 2.4-liter has an estimated fuel efficiency of 22city/30 highway. The base models comes with a 6-speed C635 manual transmission, or a 9-speed 948TE automatic transmission. The upper end trims, Limited, Trailhawk, and Deserthawk, all come standard with the 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir Engine and the 9-speed automatic transmission.

As far as compact utility vehicles go, the Jeep Renegade is the most capable in its class. Jeep managed to find a great balance of style and versatility when they designed the Jeep Renegade. Base models come standard with front-wheel drive, but all can be equipped with a 4×4 drive train. The Trailhawk and Deserthawk both come standard with 4×4.

Innovative Safety and Security Technology

The 2017 Jeep Renegade offers some of the most innovative safety and technology features on the market. Automatic High-Beam Control Headlamps automatically switch between high and low beams for improved night time visibility when driving. Full Speed Fwd Collision Warning Plus and Lane Departure Warning Plus help keep the driver safe on the road. Blind Spot Monitoring helps when you make lane changes while driving, and Rear Cross Path Detection helps with the blind spots when you are in reverse. The ParkSense Rear Park Assist system detects objects behind your vehicle when your vehicle is moving in reverse. It alerts you with a graphic display and also will provide a series of audible warnings as your vehicle gets closer to the object.

The Jeep Renegade has an available 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a 7-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster. These displays support available GPS Navigation, Sirius XM Traffic, Sirius XM Travel Link, and HD Radio.
