Dodge Muscle Is Now Available In Compact Form
2023 Dodge Hornet Features and Release Date
There is something called the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle, and for many years, it was reserved for enthusiasts who drovers vehicles like the Dodge Charger or Dodge Challenger. Now, a new “brother” is entering the mix.
It’s the Dodge Hornet, and it’s ready to be let out of the hive for 2023. The all-new model allows drivers to get the best of both worlds with SUV-like versatility and muscle car performance.
Hornet Engine Specs
Of course, this is the 2023 model year. It’s not enough to offer just a gasoline engine. With the Hornet, Dodge gives you the option of both gasoline and electric power with two uniquely powered models.
The Hornet R/T is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and is the first such performance vehicle to come from Dodge. With a turbocharged 1.3 liter 4-cylinder engine and 90-kW electric motor on the rear axle, you won’t be wanting for speed with this hybrid vehicle. Thanks to the electric motor component, this particular Hornet boasts an incredible 383 lb-ft of torque. It can also operate solely on electric power if necessary for more than 30 miles.
The Hornet GT is the other model, and it is powered by an equally impressive 2.0-liter turbocharged until that manages to crank out 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It also features a Sport mode that delivers tighter steering, optimized upshifts and more.
Dodge hasn’t yet given us exact MSRP details. What they have said, however, is that the Hornet will start at an MSRP below $30,000, making it a great entry option for those looking to experience Dodge muscle.
When Will the 2023 Dodge Hornet Be Available
Dodge has only just announced the Hornet will be coming to showrooms, and with shipping delays being what they are across the globe right now, it could be a little while longer before we can actually get behind the wheel.
Even so, the wait shouldn’t be too bad, as the Hornet is already available to order from us here at Rairdon’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Kirkland. Its actual arrival to dealerships, however, will come a bit later with Dodge estimating a late 2022 arrival for the GT model and a spring 2023 arrival for the R/T variant.
