How Much Can a Ram 1500 Tow?
How much a Ram 1500, or any pickup truck for that matter, can tow is dependent on many factors. The most obvious, of course, is the power of the engine, particularly its torque figure. But the final drive ratio can also make a significant difference. Other things being equal, the weight of the truck itself will adjust the figure. The heavier the truck, the lower the towing capacity. Thus large cab trucks will generally tow less than those with smaller cabs, highly equipped models will tow less than more basically equipped models (unless that equipment is tow-related), and 4×2 models will tow a little more than 4×4 models. Thus a comprehensive list of every towing capacity of every Ram 1500 configuration would be a very long table.
Rather than do that Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Kirkland has drawn up the following tables to give you a general idea of what a truck will tow. The actual capacities for an individual truck will be included on a sticker on the driver’s door jam.
