Dodge and Ram Take Home Top Spots in Recent Study

What is the Best Brand of Vehicle to Buy in 2023?

When spending a lot of money on a brand-new vehicle the last thing you want to do is to settle for something less than the best. Unfortunately, that is what a lot of car buyers end up doing.

The reason for this is often due to a lack of information and a lack of time to fully research every model available. Instead of choosing one of the best vehicles on the market, they may end up simply going with whatever brand they have bought in the past. Other times, it may be a deal they saw in a commercial that led them to go with one model over countless others.

While we realize that deciding which vehicle is the “best” is very much a subjective venture, we also believe that many drivers end up settling for cars that don’t best meet their needs. And as mentioned, there can be a variety of reasons why that happens. Thankfully, we can rely on third parties like J.D. Power and their APEAL Study to determine which brands truly stand out from the pack.

Dodge and Ram Rankings in J.D. Power APEAL Study

J.D. Power’s APEAL Study stands for “Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout.” It ranks brands based on such factors, putting together a measure of customer satisfaction during their first three months of ownership. Therefore, in the search for the “best” vehicles available, it’s a good resource to help you find the top brands. 

In the most recent study, Dodge came in first place. In fact, this is the fourth year straight that the brand has taken the top spot. No brand has ever done so for more than two consecutive years. Dodge was also the first-place winner in J.D. Power’s U.S. Initial Quality Study.

The Ram brand wasn’t far behind. Ram took second place among mass-market brands in this year’s study. It has shared the top two spots with Dodge for five years in a row, last coming in first place back in 2019. 

The APEAL Study also looks at individual vehicle segments, with Dodge and Ram taking home big wins there too. The 2023 Dodge Challenge took the first place spot in the midsize sporty car segment and the 2023 Ram 1500 took second place in the large light-duty pickups.
