Grand Wagoneer Named Top Vehicle for Winter
What is the Best Vehicle to Drive in the Winter?
Anyone that has had to drive in winter weather knows that not all vehicles are up to the task. While a lot can be done to prepare any type of vehicle for winter weather driving, not all of them handle it as well as others.
So, if you’re someone that has to have a vehicle that can adequately handle cold, ice and snow during the winter season, what type of vehicle should you drive? Well, getting something with AWD at minimum is a good start. It also helps to have something with enough ground clearance to handle snow drifts. But if you are looking for the name of a specific model, we think we have the answer for you.
Grand Wagoneer Named Official Winter SUV
If you’re looking for an SUV, which is a good idea for winter weather driving, then the Grand Wagoneer should be your go-to vehicle. Of course, we are biased here at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Kirkland, but it isn’t just us that think this.
The 2023 Grand Wagoneer was named the Official Winter SUV of the Year and Best Premium Full-size SUV by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). This is actually the second year in a row that the model has received the honor.
Why is the Grand Wagoneer so good at handling winter driving conditions? According to NEMPA, which put the Grand Wagoneer to the test from November through March in New England’s harsh winter weather, the vehicle boasts an independent rear suspension that makes for a “nimble and confident” SUV.

Despite its premium looks on the inside, the Grand Wagoneer is as rugged as can be under the hood, offering drivers plenty of power to handle snowy roads thanks to an inline-6. The SUV also has a sturdy stance, with the Grand Wagoneer L delivering a 130-inch wheelbase on top of its extended length of 226.7 inches. The Grand Wagoneer also boasts the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system and a Selec-Terrain Traction Management System that can optimize vehicle performance specifically for snow, as well as rock, sand/mud and sport. No matter what driving conditions you throw at the Grand Wagoneer, it can handle them all.
Of course, the real test comes when you actually take the 2023 Grand Wagoneer for a spin. It’s definitely worth a test drive, so when you’re ready, let us know here at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Kirkland so we can set you up with some time behind the wheel.
